December has started, one of those months where I prefer to go to a quiet place to read. Do not get me wrong, I love Sinterklaas, Christmas and celebrating the New Year. But If I would follow my instinct, I would flee from the hectic and crazy busyness of this month, to a cabin in nature for a week. To spend time surrounded by trees, silence and read books.
For now, practically not possible to flee to a cabin, thus my second best option is to go to bed earlier and put my phone on flight mode to avoid distractions from outside and dive into a book in my own house to keep busyness low in the evenings and get indulged by new stories or learnings.
By creating downtime in the evenings, I am able to balance the energy it takes from me when I am acting in the outside world. December is an excellent month to balance the crazy and hectic events with downtime. Especially this month we need to balance the activities that ask energy of us with recharge moments. But we have to create those recharge moments. It will not come automatically. This month is a good opportunity to block some evenings, put the telephone on flight mode to avoid interruptions and nourish ourselves with an inspiring story.

Here it goes: my top 3 list of most inspirational books that might transform your body, mind and soul
If you long to get inspiration to live a heart-centered life then read:
Heart-centered living: Messages inspired by Christ Consciousness by Pamela Kribbe
I read this book for the first time in 2010 when I started the Rebalancing bodywork training. It made a deep impact on me because she verbalizes an inner wisdom that resonated with me. Sometimes we feel that we have our own truth, but we do not meet that in the outside world and thus we might think: "As nobody meets my truth, then it does not exist and it might not be true". This book meant a lot to me, as for the first time I read things that I knew on a deeper level and I felt validated in taking my own truth more serious.
Always wondered why you have the feeling failing at small talk, or enjoy spending time alone or why you might feel drained after being out and about, even if you have enjoyed yourself? Then read:
Quiet, the power of introverts in a world that Can't stop talking by Susan Cain
This book was a big eye opener for me regarding how introverts are wired and their qualities. This book makes clear that our lives are driven by a fact that most of us can't name and don't understand. It defines who our friends and lovers are, which careers we choose, and whether we blush when we're embarrassed. That fact is whether we're an introvert or an extrovert. I am an introvert and when I was working in a consultancy firm, shyness, sensitivity and seriousness were often seen as being negative.
Many Introverts feel reproached for being the way they are. In this book, Susan Cain shows the brain difference in chemistry of introverts and extroverts, and how society misunderstands and undervalues introverts. She gives introverts the tools to better understand themselves and take full advantage of their strengths. I always recommend this book to my introvert sensitive clients so that they value their qualities to be able to contribute with it at the workplace.
If you feel that you would like to find your voice, your ability, your self-confidence and perhaps your mission in life, then read:
